Dr. Murphy, a general orthopedic surgeon, brings a unique and distinguished background to the clinic, enhancing its commitment to delivering exceptional care to Florence and the entire Shoals community.
Dr. Murphy, a native of Florence, is the son of Dr. John Murphy, one of the founding partners of North Alabama Bone & Joint Clinic. His deep roots in the community and dedication to advancing orthopedic care make him a valuable asset to the clinic and its patients.
Dr. Murphy’s extensive education and training include:
• Orthopedic Surgery Residency at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee (2019-2024)
• Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s campus in Auburn, Alabama (2015-2019)
• Doctor of Physical Therapy from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia (2011-2014)
• Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Auburn University (2006-2010)
Dr. Murphy’s diverse background as a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) before pursuing his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) provides him with a comprehensive understanding of patient care and rehabilitation. His experience as a physical therapist in both Florence and Tallassee, Alabama, further solidifies his expertise and commitment to improving patient outcomes.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Murphy is dedicated to his family. He resides in the Shoals community with his wife and children.
